No Surprises

The surgery will be completed in about twenty minutes; Charlie is just being "closed up" right now. Both doctors reported that everything went exactly as planned. There were only the two tumors in the left lobe of the liver, and Dr. Jarnagin was able to remove both of them. The one in the awkward position had shrunk considerably with the chemotherapy, and he was able to remove it with margins with which he is comfortable. There were no complications in the removal of the right colon. David and I are very happy with the reports.

Charlie will be in recovery overnight. He will be sleeping and will not be aware of a five-minute visit from David and me, which we will be allowed to make in an hour and a half. We will go home after that for the night and return in the morning, when Charlie will be expected to be in his room.
