Young Horses in Springtime

Easter, to me, has always been the real beginning of spring.  Young horses blossom in the spring as they begin to acquire their summer coats. For many years, we have shipped our young horses to Florida (and, for a few years, to South Carolina) for the winter, to prepare for their spring campaigns in New York.

Hot Money, the three-year-old chestnut gelding pictured above, should be ready to run in New York in a few weeks. Mustang Island, the three-year-old bay ridgling pictured below, is two or three weeks behind Hot Money in his preparation.
